There was pandemonium in the city of Lagos, Nigeria on Wednesday when a 2 storey building housing a school and other residential apartments collapsed.

The incident happened in the early hours of the day leaving many injured and over a dozen dead.

The said building was reported to be over 20 years old with its structural integrity a course for serious worries.

The building housed an illegal school for young children in their kindergarten and primary levels. 

The School was already beginning its activities for the day when the incident happened.

There were thousands of Good Samaritans who came to the rescue the persons stuck under the debris even before the Lagos state emergency services arrived the scene.

School pupils were injured and many rushed to near by hospitals for treatment and an unaccounted number found lying dead under the dirt.

Parents and guardians and some onlookers were seen crying because those mostly affected were little kids between the ages of 4 to 10 years old.

As at this evening, the Lagos state government has said that the rescue operations had ended  because its emergency services had hit ground zero, meaning there was no other body available for rescue.

There has been a loud call on the citizens of the state and beyond to come to the hospitals and donate blog to save the lives of most of the casualties.

We wish the injured persons , speedy recovery and may the souls of the dead Rest In Peace.
