The UN human rights chief Michelle Bachelet has said that sanctions have crippled the Venezuelan economy, she also said that President Maduro’s violations of civil and political rights were also a main cause.

It has been reported that there has been food and medical shortages because of a standoff between Maduro and opposition leader who has been recognized as interim president by over 50 countries.

Sanctions on Maduro have intensified after Washington handed over Venezuela’s bank accounts to Guaido in the United States and sanctions on Venezuela’s state oil company PDVSA.

Maduro has vowed to crush a few minority whose plans are to remove him from office and seize power, However Guaido has been seen touring various South American countries even when a ban by the government was placed.
