AFCON 2019: Nigeria knocks out defending champions Cameroon to qualify for Quarter-finals

Nigeria qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals with a 3-2 win over defending champions Cameroon on Saturday, July 6, at Alexandria Stadium.

Nigeria first took the lead in the 28th minutes after Odion Ighalo found the net. But Cameroon later replied with two goals from Stephane Bahoken and Clinton N’Jie in the 41 and 44 minutes.

 

The comeback goal came in the 63 minutes after Odion Ighalo found the net for the second time before Alex Iwobi then made it 3 – 2 in the 66 minutes.

The Super Eagles will face  South Africa in the quarter-finals.
