AN EVENING WITH SENATOR STEPHANIE HANSEN

An Evening With Senator Stephanie Hansen Was An Awesome One With The Delaware’s Senator Hansen Who Organized A Multi-Cultural Potluck On July 19th.

An Organization She Founded About 2years Ago.

The Event Was Well Attended By Delaware Citizens Of Various Cultures And Race.

The Most Colourful Part Was Over 15 Different Cultural Food Brought By The Attendees.

The Atmosphere Was Calm And Very Relaxing With People Smiling And Networking.

During This Event The Hon Senator Hansen Had A Round Dinner Table Talk With The Community Members, As She Enquired From Them How She Can Help Serve Them Better.

Jemimah Chuks Was Also Present To Cover This Incredible Event As Well As Interviewed The Senator.

“There Is Something Very Interesting About This Great Woman,” Who Is So Passionate About People Of Different Colour And She Organises Multicultural Event, One Of Which Is Called The Multicultural Coalition Which Was Founded Some Months Ago.

In Response To Why People Don’t Speak Out She Said People Don’t Know Who To Talk To, Even If They Do Know They Believe No One Will Talk To Them And It Seem To Me That I Want To Be Able To Help.

You Elected Me, Am Working For You And It’s My Job Is To Make Sure That You Know That You Can Come To Me And We Can Come Together As A Group To Get The Problem Solved.

First Of All Is To Make Sure You Know That I’m Listening And I Can Take That Voice With Me And I Want To Make Sure That We Begin To Build A Base Of Leaders In A Multicultural Community Because You Have To Get People With Different View Point.

As Part Of Government, When We Pass Law In The General Assembly Those Law Affect Everybody And You Need To Have People At The Table Talking About Does Things That Come With Different Life Experience Because Otherwise You Just Don’t Know, Everyone Grows Up With A Certain Set Of partiality That You Just Naturally Come To And Many Times You Don’t Even See Them And So What We Need To Do Is To Make Sure That In The Multicultural Communities Not Only Did They Feel Empowered But We Are Making Sure That We Are Getting Them Into Position Of   Leadership As Well, Teaching Them Here’s How You Get Into Leadership  Let’s Make Sure We Can Get You Into Those Spot Let’s Bring You Into Government And In The Main Time You Can Come To Me At Anytime  am Very Accessible.

She Also Said That She Has Great Plan In The Educational Sector.

“Education Is Extremely Important And We Have Been Working On A Number Of Libraries And I Think We Need To Make Sure That We Are Reaching Out To All The Children That Are In Delaware To Give Access To A Good Education.

The Important Thing Is To Make Sure That All The Children We Have Regardless Of Their Zip Code, Have Access To Quality Education And That’s Something That We Have A Big Job Ahead Of Us.

There Are Schools That Are Challenged And There’s A Formula Right Now For Funding Schools That Doesn’t  Really Address The Challenges That A Lot Of These Children Are Coming From.

So We Need To Have A School System That Recognises Children That Are Coming With Challenges

Also In Response To How Can The Government Help The Children With Challenges She Said What They Could Do Is Make Sure That They Have More Councillors And Staffs That Are Trained To Recognise Trauma And The Effects Of Trauma Because If You Are Living In A Neighbourhood Were Gunshot Have Become A Num You Become Traumatise By That.

Or You Just Watch A Mother Or A Father Being Beaten Or Being Treated In A Particular Way Or You Are Living In A Home Where Addiction Is Random Those Are The Trauma That The Children Are Bringing With Them  Into The Classroom And I Think We Should Have Teachers That Recognise The Trauma And The Effects Of Trauma When They See It.
