While trying to pass a message to the Italian government, 47-year-old Ousseynou Sy an Italian citizen originally from Senegal, held 51 children captive while driving them back home from school.

According to reports, the man is angry about the continued deaths of African immigrants at sea. Last year alone, an estimated 2,297 persons were confirmed dead while trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea into Europe.

The man was heard saying, “stop the deaths at sea or I will cause a massacre”.

Reports say the intent may be or may not be linked to terrorism.

Students were able to escape the attacks through broken windows and none was reported dead, however, a few were treated for smoke inhalation.

The man has seen been charged to court on cases of kidnapping, arson, intent to kill and other grievous offenses.

Meanwhile, there have been a series of protests just in the Italian capital saying immigrants should be treated rightly.
